Candid Mirror

I saw a child
Playing in the mud
Red hair
Glistening in the sun
Twinkling eyes,
Reverberating the sea.
Hands clutched the dark soil
And out came a dimpled smile,
Enthralling me.
As I looked on
She metamorphosed in an old hag
Kneading the muck
White hair
Shimmering in the sun
Jaded eyes, Emulating life
Hands fumbled for the pebbles
Emerged a shriveled grin of toothless gums.
Horrifying me.
I stepped backwards
Smarting in pain
And broke the Candid mirror on the wall.

the 7 ages of man...

As Billy boy once said - all the world's a stage.

But why the paradigm shift in so drastic a manner that a bubbling child fades to the aged hag without the resplendence of youth.
